Can acupuncture help with low AMH?

Writer: Zak HanZak Han

Understanding AMH Levels and Their Impact on Fertility

Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) is a key biomarker for assessing a woman's ovarian reserve and fertility potential. Produced by the ovaries, AMH levels are stable throughout the menstrual cycle, making them a reliable marker for ovarian reserve, which refers to the quantity and quality of a woman's eggs.

Low AMH and Its Implications

Low AMH levels suggest a diminished ovarian reserve and may pose challenges for conception. Factors contributing to low AMH include age, genetics, and medical conditions. However, low AMH does not completely determine fertility, as some women conceive naturally despite low levels.

Acupuncture and Fertility

Acupuncture can enhance fertility by improving blood circulation, egg quality, and ovarian function. It can aid in IVF success by boosting ovarian response to stimulation. Acupuncture has been shown to increase AMH levels, antral follicle count, and clinical pregnancy rates.

Case Report

A 39-year-old woman with low AMH conceived naturally after six months of acupuncture, demonstrating the potential benefits of this treatment.
